Healthcare Facilities
The Nazareth Sisters are engaged in healthcare ministry to show the compassion and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Sisters currently operate seven health care facilities in Kenya. This includes two hospitals: Consolata Hospital Gitoro and St. Luke’s Kiamuri Cottage Hospital. The Sisters also operate five dispensaries (medical clinics): Nkabune Dispensary, Mujwa Dispensary, St. Lawrence Engineer Dispensary, Kitale Dispensary and St. Anthony Tunyai Dispensary.

Although we need support for the other six facilities, the Tunyai site is an immediate priority. Since 2019, the Nazareth Sisters have operated a dispensary in a temporary shelter which was not approved by the Ministry of Health in Kenya. The people served by the Tunyai Dispensary are very needy as this is a semi-arid area in Tharak Nithi County, Kenya. A new beautiful St. Anthony Dispensary building was constructed which was approved by the Ministry of Health and blessed in January 2025. This facility is currently operating well to meet the needs of the 15,000 people living in Tunyai.
We have raised funds to address transportation needs and the need for water at the dispensary site. We are now working to raise the funds needed to build a small, short-stay hospital adjacent to the new dispensary. This is critically needed as the closest hospital is 15 miles from Tunyai and transportation is very limited.
